I’ve had a Generac ‘Core Power’ back-up generator for about 10 years. The engine threw a rod while still on warranty. The authorized service co. replaced the motor, but took two call backs to get it running right. Sometime thereafter, the electronic controller went bad to the tune of $ several hundred. Ever since, the unit failed to reliably start up on its weekly exercise cycle. During a power outage last winter while I was away, it failed to start. Fortunately, a friend came by and got it going. I was about to give up and buy a new one, probably $10 to 12K all-in but decided to give it one more try and called O J Mann. OJ Mann installed our Generac 20KW standby generator six years ago and they have serviced it twice annually on a service contract. They did quality installation work, and they have kept the generator running perfectly the whole time. Today, their serviceman, Lou, did our six month service. He was extremely professional and cleaned the entire generator, inside and out, so that it looks brand new! Two men came on the appointed day, shut down the power, and proceeded to update the service to 200A, with new meter box, transfer switch, and breaker panel. Power was restored in early afternoon (much faster than I thought), and then they finished putting everything back together. There were two minor glitches (broken / loose wires) that were easy to fix that one of the men came back to correct. All that’s left is to get it inspected, and then the power company to install the new meter. Now I have room to add some extra circuits for various reasons. Thanks very much — excellent job.
